Offshore Wind Design AS can design and deliver gravity anchors to large scale projects for the floating offshore wind industry.
With our subsea experience and engineering skills and focus on quality, environment, health and safety learned from the subsea oil and gas industry, we and our partners can provide design support only or a complete EPC project.
The full EPC package include system engineering, geotechnical evaluations, design, manufacturing, testing and on-site delivery for standardized gravity anchor solutions that can be easily installed and integrated as mooring for any floating wind concept at any site and water depth worldwide.
Gravity Anchors for Offshore Wind
Gravity based foundations and clump weights are used as mooring foundation for floating offshore wind turbines in shallow waters and in soil conditions where the suction anchors are not suitable due to soil penetration limitations and risk. The vertical and horizontal load capacity of the mooring anchors on the seabed is dependent on the coefficient of friction at the specific site where the soil could typically be a combination of sand, gravel and silt/clay. Artifical reefs and scour protection may be included in the design.
Cost Reduction by Standardization and Large-Scale Production
Gravity anchors are used as mooring foundation for floating offshore wind turbines in shallow waters and in soil conditions where the suction anchors are not suitable due to soil penetration limitation. The mooring lines transfer the loads from the turbine, wind, waves and current into the gravity foundations. Offshore Wind Design are developing a standardized two product series of innovative anchors optimized for large scale projects. The first is developed for TLP mooring solutions for floating wind with vertical tension loading and the second is developed for SEMI catenary mooring solutions where the loads from the anchor lines are horizontal.
TLP Gravity Anchors
Offshore Wind Design can deliver cost-effective standardized gravity anchors for Tension Leg Platform (TLP) offshore floating wind solutions. The product specification is shown in the table below for standard anchor capacities. The TLP moring anchors can also be tailor made for specific soil conditions, load angle and capacity.
SEMI Gravity Anchors
Offshore Wind Design can deliver cost-effective standardized gravity anchors for Semi-Submersible (SEMI) catenary offshore floating wind solutions. The product specification is shown in the table below for standard anchor capacities. The SEMI mooring anchors can also be tailor made for specific soil conditions, load angle and capacity.
